A city in Manatee and Sarasota counties, located on a barrier island in Florida. Longboat Key is south of Anna Maria Island, between Sarasota Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. It’s almost equally divided between the two counties. It is a unique place to settle down, both for the convenience of living and its closeness to nature.
Most of Longboat Key's residential territory is occupied by single-family homes or condominium apartments with access to beautiful beaches as well as ocean views, swimming pools, and tennis courts. The most common job groups, by several people living in Longboat Key, are management occupations, sales, and office & administrative support occupations.
The Gulf of Mexico Drive (State Road 789) crosses the entire length of the island, with smaller roads connecting to individual residences. The Rufus P. Jordan House, known also as Mar Vista, is a historic house on Longboat Key, added to the National Register of Historic Places.
